Alan Freeman-Scott, P.E.

After graduating from the Oregon Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Renewable Energy Engineering and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics, Alan Freeman-Scott began his career in the System Protection group for a major utility based in Augusta, ME. At this utility, Alan was blessed to be mentored by the 30+ year protection guru at the company. This mentorship, combined with the field and settings development experience from his position, facilitated a rapid growth in his abilities as an engineer.  Before leaving the east coast to move back to Oregon for family reasons, Alan was responsible for multiple capital projects, protection system troubleshooting for a service territory consisting of 55 substations, management of the utilities synchrophasor system, and operational training for technicians on the utilities IEC 61850 platform.

In Oregon, Alan worked for a San Diego based utility through a large consulting firm with an office in Portland, OR. While in San Diego, Alan helped construct, configure, and test an MPLS network and template protection system for a communication upgrade project. During this time Alan obtained his Nokia NRS I Routing certification and his Professional Engineering License.

Following his experiences in San Diego, Alan was invited to help start a small engineering business with his former boss from the east coast. The small engineering firm grew into a thriving small business in Maine.

With a desire to work with utilities closer to his home state, Alan started Azariah Engineering Services with a goal of being able to provide valuable cost-effective services to utilities, generators, and other contractors in the Pacific Northwest.
